Dragonfly Meaning: Spiritual Messengers and Healers
A dragonfly can be a powerful spiritual messenger and have the ability to bring great healing in times of need. They are truly magical creatures.
What Do Dragonflies Mean
Most people in the spiritual community believe that dragonflies mean: change, flexibility and courage.
But to my mind, a dragonfly represents one thing: living fully in the present moment.
See, dragonflies only live a very short lifespan: they live only long enough to reproduce and that's about it. Typical lifespan is six months.
As a result, they've got to make the most of the time they have in life. No time for procrastinating or putting things off… gotta get busy living NOW.
Are Dragonflies A Sign From A Deceased Loved One?
A dragonfly can certainly be a sign from a deceased loved one!
Dragonflies only survive near water. As such, spiritually, this means that they connect to the water element which represents spirituality, intuition and reflection.
That said, as I teach in my best-selling book, Afterlife, your deceased loved ones aren't restricted by rules. Anything can be a sign. And dragonflies are no exception.
Dragonflies, due to their incredible colors and dynamic flying abilities, have an amazing way of capturing your attention. The message they deliver can be fluid.
Dragonfly Meaning In Dreams
Last week at a healing circle a woman shared how she was struggling with being over worked. In a nutshell, a position was removed and as a result much more work is now on her plate for the same pay.
She loved her job (and was excelling at it) but felt she deserved a raise.
But not just a minor raise, a major one.
She meditated on it and asked her guides for guidance. She patiently waited for guidance but felt it wasn't coming.
The night before attending the healing circle she dreamt that she was in the forest by a beautiful stream and stunning dragonfly landed on her.
When she woke up she felt exhilarated. She felt like that dragonfly filled her with electricity and confidence!
"Was this a sign? Does it mean I should ask," she asked me?
Absolutely it was a sign I told her. It represented being confident and assured and to live in the now… to go for it.
This morning I got an email from her. They HAPPILY gave her the raise she wanted as they "couldn't afford to lose her at any cost."

About a week after my son passed, I was sitting out on the front steps, he always went there to talk to his girlfriend, there is no water anywhere near, and a dragonfly was flying back and forth in front of me for about 3 minutes. For Christmas, my sister had a metal dragonfly made for me, which now hangs next to my son's picture on the wall.
My father was dying, by the time I got to the hospital he was unable to speak or acknowledge my presence. After sitting with him for a couple of days I asked him to come to me as a dragonfly. He passed in 2017 in 2019 I noticed dragonflies all over my yard. It's unusual because I live a couple of blocks from a river in a desert area. A huge dragonfly came into my garage and hovered right in front of my face. I started talking to the dragonfly asking if he wanted to come into my house. Then it flew away. I told my dad what a great job he did and thanked him.

This morning I was reviewing my emails while waiting for the coffee to perk and reviewed your blog on Humming Birds, Butterflies and Dragonflies. I also was deliberating over having to go back to work and camp on a large construction project that I had been at until it shut down for last 4 months due to COVID19. I had been having a hard time because I didn't feel good about the job for many reasons. As my wife woke up I informed her I have decided not to go which made her very happy. The coffee was ready so I poured a cup and went out to enjoy it on our porch even though it is raining here. A free a couple of sips what I thought was a fly landed on the edge of my cup but as I wasn't about to show it of I realized it was a baby Dragonfly. He hung around most of the morning and we feel it was a positive sign about my decision!

I was just sitting in my car when Two beautiful dragonflies starting mating on my wiper blades.
My door is open and it landed on the top of the open door in a relaxed manner with its tail pointed straight in the air. Currently is flying about happily around the front of my car as if looking at me. Total of 3.

My husband passed away just recently, sept will be 2yrs.
My children and I have had several encounters but I always second guess it. I do believe in the signs but I always try to say well it's a dragonfly just flying around. My son was at soccer practice and my daughter and I were watching, this dragonfly kept flying in front of us back and forth down the field where we were sitting. My daughter noticed first and mentioned it to me. I noticed that it would kind of stop in front of us and flutter for a moment then keep flying up and down the field, we both thought of him but yet I really wondered. The next encounter I was with my mom and dad in the garage with the garage door open and one flew in close to where you could see the colors so pretty. My dad said wow I don't think I have ever seen one so close before, it literally hung out for a few moments and went on it's way. I felt like it was him, we were discussing getting rid of the lawn mower he used every week for years and get an easier one for me to use.
And recently, three days before Father's Day, the kids and I came downstairs to start our day and I notice a dragon fly sitting on the screen door to the back yard. I told the kids and my son immediately said it was dad. It was on the screen so long we thought that it might be dead. We inspected it to see if it was stuck in the screen but it was not. I was like how is it just sitting there for this long. I took a photo of it, it was beautiful. I truly believed this one without a doubt. Something made me feel it. I feel like it was him saying now do you believe it! Haha!

Years ago I was having a rough day, missing my mother who passed away when I was 17. I was shopping with two friends and just wasn't feeling it. I didn't want to try on clothes and was thinking about going home. As I waited for my friends who were in the dressing rooms, I started looking at the jewelry display in the store and spotted a very unique and beautiful dragonfly ring. I was sure it was something I'd never be able to afford, but I picked it up and found that it was very inexpensive and it fit me like it was made for me. I know my mother wanted me to find that ring. It was the first of many dragonflies she's shown me over my lifetime.
My husband passed away March 15, 2020 and started sending signs within a couple of days. First it was his Aqua Velva, Then there was a white dove which we don't even have here. I had never seen a white dove in my life until this one flew right down past our front porch, circled around and then flew off into the woods. My son-in-law and grandson were there with me and were as thrilled as I was. There were many other signs but the ones that really came most were the dragon flies. We have not seen dragonflies around her for about twenty years and they were quite large. The ones that started coming about a week after my husband's death were much smaller and very similar to the one you have pictured. Every day they came. Sometimes there was just one and sometimes two or three. One would always come and land on my hand. Then they started tapering off and then a larger one came that was so gold he looked almost like a ladies brooch. I thought to myself, "I think that was the grand finale." That is something that my husband would have done. The next day I saw one but it left as soon as I came out the door and the same happened the next day, then no more. It has been a couple of weeks and on Tuesday I had to bring our Yorkie for an eye check-up for cataract surgery last January. It was 45 minutes away and on the way home I was feeling blue and feeling sorry for myself because my husband and I always took her to the eye doctor together. I was talking to myself about having to do this alone now and I didn't like being without my husband there. I pulled up and stopped at a red traffic light and guess what…one of my dragonflies flew right up to my windshield and stopped and looked right into my face. He buzzed back and forth in front of the windshield a couple of times and then buzzed around the hood a few times and was gone. The light changed and I drove away the happiest I've been in a long time. Now I knew I wasn't really alone! Love never dies. My daughter and I were at your group session on Saturday, June 13 and have signed up for the one tomorrow, Friday June 26. Hope to get a reading but will still be loving it even if we don't! (Sorry for being so long-winded.)

The day we laid my mom to rest a beautiful red dragonfly landed on my left breast… it looked up at me and stayed there for a few seconds then flew away. it was very emotional
I have had a dragonfly visit me every year since my daughter passed 7 yrs ago from a tragic accident, and even though I live no where near water. Last year for instance one mysteriously appeared in my house as I was getting ready to leave on a trip and then this year one went by my head while I was outside working in my yard and fluttered around a bit and then left.

In August 2019 my brother was on life support due to a gun shot wound to the rt side of his head. I live 5 hrs away. I kept asking Jesus to keep him alive until I could get to him. When I arrived at the hospital he was on life support. I kept asking him where was he bc I did not feel that he was in his body. later that morning around 4am he gave my girlfriend in houston a dream of exactly what was happening 5 hrs away in the hospital room. He was leaning against me apologizing to me for my pain of loosing him in the physical world. I kept pleading with him and Jesus to show me what and why this had happened and Jesus kept telling me to watch and listen and would throw a blanket of peace over me. A week later after his funeral the night I got home he came and told me how, what and why this had happened. He gives me signs all the time and so does my dad that they r with me. My family whom r Saints in Heaven are the ones that told me about u Blair Robertson, they wanted me to go to one of ur shows in which was canceled Inapril. I always have dragonflies that won't leave me especially when we r on the water. They land on me and just stay they hover around me all the time. My friends r always saying there is ur brother and ur dad.
A dragonfly landed on my sons casket. Flew to his wife and then to me. I never saw it, until another son who was filming showed me his phone. I feel this is my deceased sons sign but I don't connect often. I got a text message on my gps screen in my car from him. NOT on my phone. Is he trying to get my attention ? It's been almost 3 years. My messages (3 now) started in January of this year.

Hi Blair, my husband recently and tragically passed away, March 25, 2020. About 2 months after he passed I walked out my back door and there was this blue dragonfly trying to get inside the house, he was flying into the door repeatedly. A couple days later I dropped my daughters off at work and as I was driving away the same blue dragonfly was at my window, trying to get inside. I know it was my husband checking up on me to make sure I'm OK.
Hi Blair, I have a swimming pool in my back yard, there are always dragonflies above my pool as you mentioned you above, how they survive by water. They are in various sizes and colors, so magical.
When I was a small child, these dragonflies were all over my backyard. We did not live near any water. We called them 'dining needles' and were told by my foster parents that they attack people and can kill them with their sting. I was quite petrified of them. I was brought up in foster care and had some of the most awful people at times, especially the ones that told me these creatures could hurt me. My father had died when I was 7 and this was the year that I first started seeing them. I continued seeing them for seven years when I was removed from that home for abuse. I never saw them again until 1997 when I moved to Florida. Still not knowing really what they were, I thought they could hurt me. I haven't seen any since 1998, again gave it no thought. Yesterday, before your zoom meeting I was outside gardening. and there was one flying all around me. I wasn't scared this time and I didn't know why. I felt so calm. I just watched it. To be completely honest Blair, I was so engrossed in my gardening that I forgot about the meeting with you. I came out of the shower and put my watch back on that had the alert to join. I wonder if that dragonfly was a reminder to get on zoom at 7:00. I didn't get a reading but I was healed by two of the readings, they sounded like they were from MY husband . Thank you Blair.
My mother passed away about a year and a half ago. She knew that I absolutely love dragonflies! I recently received a gift from a friend which was a beautiful metal dragonfly stake to use in my garden. I was very happy to receive the dragonfly but absolutely flabbergasted when I noticed with it a business card with the name & info of the woman who had made the dragonfly and her name, both first & last, is the same as my mother's name! I totally believe this was a sign from my mother. Additionally, yesterday I had to make the difficult decision to "put down" my mother's dog, that I had been caring for since her death, due to the dog's advanced age & sickness. As I was waiting with my daughter outside of the animal shelter for someone to come out and get the dog, we noticed a dragonfly flying overhead. That gave me so much peace and I saw it as a sign that my mother was giving me her blessing for something I felt so guilty about doing.
My seven-year-old grandson and I was sitting in this blowup pool that I bought when all of a sudden a dragonfly came out of nowhere and started flying around us.. My grandson was scared and I told him you don't have to be afraid dragonflies are messengers from the people that we miss and love them they're here to let us know that they are OK. He looked at the dragonfly as it was flooding over our heads and he said hi Pa which was what he called my husband. My husband passed away on March 3 2020 and this is just one of the signs that I have received. I also had a red cardinal which I have never seen in my entire life land on my fence and just sat there staring into the house. I know he's still here watching over us. Love never dies! ♥️
I saw a very unique dragonfly at my back door few weeks ago. But it wasn't the pretty colored kind it almost look like a moth. But it wasn't on closer inspection it was a type of dragonfly. I lost my dad last year was just curious if maybe that was a sign?
My sister and I were at your event in Seattle, WA and received a message from my brother who perished in a small airplane crash. The main point of the message was that the plane crash was not his fault. We have a brother that lives out of state and we waited until he was visiting to tell him about this in person. I was sitting on my front porch one morning before we had told my brother and a dragonfly circled in front of me the whole time I sat there, back and forth. I told my sister that we had to tell my brother because that dragon fly was a sign that we needed to tell him that day. That message was really for my brother because he had always thought the plane crash was our brother's fault. Thank you Blair for that healing message.
This is crazy, I was driving to work this morning a dragon fly crossed my winshield, I thought for a minute the message it would have and didn't think about it until I just saw your post here, I lost my 17yr old daughter 3years now, thank you I got her message!
I lost my son and one day I took a bike ride around and from nowhere was surrounded by dragonflies. They stayed with me as I rode. After about two miles as I got closer to home they began to drop off, but one fly in front of me all the way home. I knew it was Dan. Bless his heart for making my day.
Hi, I live in an apartment, when my son was still alive, he would sit on the steps at the front of the entrance and talk on the phone. About 2 weeks after he crossed over, I was sitting on those steps and a dragonfly kept circling in front of my. My son passed 2 days after he turned 30, leaving behind a young daughter. There is always an orange dragonfly that flies by me wherever I happen to be. For Christmas last year, my sister had a dragonfly made for me out of thin copper, which I have hung by my sons picture on the wall. My son lived a short life here on earth with a lot of challenges, and I feel that he sends me dragonflies to let me know that he is in the peaceful life now that his spirit always wanted.
Serendipity. I was sitting on my balcony this evening and dragonfly flew against my window and buzzed around. I live in a city and my balcony looks out on a closed courtyard and I've never seen one before. Literally an hour later I was flipping through FB and saw this!

An awesome sign since our loving family member, my granddaughter's Uncle Albert passed away today from the ravages of COVID-19. Through your healing messages, I know his spirit surrounds us. My husband passes in April 4 months ago. We were married 43 years. The last 2 years or so. I miss and think about him everyday. Some days not doing to well. He was buried at the Seaside Veterans Cemetary. His Veterans plaque had arrived so I went very early in the morning about 6:30am. There was no one there but me. It was mounted and beautiful. I was so overwhelmed with the reality of his death and was sobbing so bad that I went to the bench right near him. I had taken pictures to forward to the family, when I heard what sounded like a weed eater. I looked around but saw nothing. Went back to my texting and heard it again. Looked around and raw nothing. Started texting again and this time I could hear it right behind my head. I stood up and turned around. The most beautiful green with iridescent red on the side of its head was hovering right in front of me and looking at me in my eyes. I was so mesmorized by it I just stared at it. It just looked at me and then flew away. My heart was so happy. I said is that you honey? Thank you , I love you. I wish I could have recorded it. It was amazing. The next morning was Monday and I was telling my coworkers about it. Then Tuesday morning Kathy asked me if I had looked up the hummingbirds and death and I said no why. She told me look it up. I did and it makes me feel it really was him. Also I have never heard a hummingbird before. Weed wacker I don't know what I was thinking.

A few days after my Dad passed in 2014 i had my daughter at my house and we were visiting on my patio, all of the sudden a swarm of dragon flies over came us. Since that day when they are in season they follow us, get in our faces and plain just hang with us. When they are not in season, i frequently have them appear on my facebook feed. From the first time we had them with us we just knew that my Dad her Grandpa was visiting us, we always say hello to him when this happens.
I live in the country and we have a beautiful pond with a dock. One morning on the dock I notice a small dragon fly trapped in a spider web. I freed it with the tip of a fishing pole. I released it to a plant and it flew back to the top of the fishing poke and flew off. I was so happy that I saw it and could set it free. It absolutely made my day and filled my heart. I never knew the spiritual connection with dragon flies. We have many near the pond! Blessings.
After my husband died I would see dragonflies flying around me in the arena where I teach horseback riding.
I instinctively felt that he sent them.
I've had several dragonfly messages,always from blue eyed ones. My husband had blue eyes. The most recent was in Orlando ,FL. I went with my daughter and her boyfriend for the weekend,I was sitting on the 14th floor balcony and a dragonfly popped in and left. I truly believe it was him. Another time ,also in FL,I was walking on a nature trail,and a dragonfly landed on a plant,I was able to actually hold this one in the palm of my hand and when I was walking back to my semi it flew away.
I've had my mom die on Thanksgiving 2020 and 2 days later my dog passed unexpected. I've been devastated ! As of yesterday I had this one hummingbird in my back yard on my tree. I can see this bird sitting my chair from my living room. I get lots! of hummingbirds all the time but never one that sat on my tree branch going from branch to branch then getting food in the feeders I have for them. I decided to look up hummingbirds to see if they come around when a loved one passes and Wow! Yes! they sure do and they I found Blair Robertson and really not sure how I found you. My husband died in 2009. A week before his birthday. My friends always made dinner for his birthday every year. They made dinner for me on his birthday the week after he died. I lost my son 7 years ago, my daughter 4 1/2 years ago, & my husband 9 months ago. Right after my daughter passed I was sitting out on my deck having a little breakdown of tears & I have never seen a dragonfly out where I live or since & it flew right up & landed on my bench with me & stayed awhile & let me express my feelings. It really helped.
Last night when I went to bed there was a dragon fly in my living room and this morning there is one in my bathroom so in total there are 2 dragonflies in the house… What does that mean?
I see dragonflies often and usually not anywhere near water. I just ran to the store to pick up a few things. I park on the side of the grocery store every time I go to this particular store. When I got out I noticed one dragonfly flying around the cars. There isn't water anywhere close. This store is between two busy streets with stores all around. When I came back out and was loading my car, I notices three dragonflies flying around. I have also had a dragonfly come into my view as I drive down the freeway going 70+ miles an hour. It stayed just ahead of my windshield and then flew out of view. The other day a monarch butterfly, a dragonfly and a mourning dove all came together in my front yard and were near each other for several minutes. The mourning dove actually came down into my driveway and walked toward me as the dragonfly flew around and the monarch was just a few feet away. I definitely took this as a sign from my guides as acknowledgement of change and support. I feel comfort when I see dragonflies and know I'm safe.
My son died of a tragic staircase case accident 3 years ago and soon after dragonflies started following me every where I go especially when I was crying outside even so much as landing on my arm as I poured my son's ashes into the ocean. I never believed in things like this but my son put it in my face and now I'm a believer!!!
Shortly after my son passed, my sister called to say she had dreamt him & that he kept trying to talk to his oldest sister but she wouldn't pay attention to him. The following day, my sister called to say she had dreamt my son again. He kept trying to talk to his sister but again she wouldn't pay attention. Then she was walking down a hallway with him behind her when she turned & went into a room & closed door behind her leaving her brother to turn his head & say "Well, shit!" We had to laugh because this was so like him.
A few weeks later while having a Celebration of Life, my granddaughter spotted a dragonfly near us & when my daughter put her finger near it, the dragonfly climbed on her finger & stayed there while people took pictures.
My son persevered.
BTW, he was born under the sign of the dragon.

I had a unique experience a few years ago I happened to look out my back door . As I looked I noticed hundreds of dragonflies flying all around my yard I looked over at my neighbors houses and there were none . I think about this alot wondering what it was trying to tell me but I know it was trying to tell me something most definitely
Yes , my daughter and I were in the garden and I'd just read psalm 91 to her and our dog Bella who isn't small was sprawled over her and she laughed. I went to say that she feels the Holy Spirit and that Angels can use pure vessels as animals when a dragonfly with a red stripe landed on the brick wall in between my daughter and I , stayed for a few seconds then flew away. When I was a driving instructor I used to have dragon flies around my car often. I had a student who was a Native American and said that in her beliefs the dragon fly was a sign of protection
A dragonfly entered my vehicle and rode around town with me. It went to my back window and I slowed down and he flew out.

All the time I am overwhelmed with my feelings, stress and sadness; stress at work sickens me.
Today at work, as I was waiting outside for the truck driver, a beautiful dark blue dragonfly landed on the metal stairs in front of me..I was very surprised, since we don't have a lake, etc. nearby.
So, I was overwhelmed by the feeling of happiness that this animal transmitted to me & I got tears.
I had not seen a dragonfly for a long time, it was just indescribable – I just needed it.
It just reminded me: the universe is great and you are a part of it. <3
